SACO — The Elmina B. Sewall Foundation awards an unrestricted grant of $90,000 to MaineHealth Care at Home, (MHCAH) a leading agency offering home health and hospice care to children and adults throughout Southern and MidCoast Maine. This grant, with payments over the next three years, will support MHCAH’s mission to provide essential health services to the most vulnerable patients throughout the region, who lack insurance and resources to pay for care. In caring for this at-risk population, MHCAH expended $250,000 in charity care and $900,000 in care not reimbursed by government programs this past year. “In times of declining reimbursement,” adds Donna DeBlois, President & CEO, “We are honored and grateful to have this level of support and trust from the Sewall Foundation.”

MaineHealth Care at Home provides home-based skilled nursing, palliative care, rehabilitative therapies, telehealth, and a full range of population and wellness services.  In addition, the agency offers hospice services in the MidCoast region with short-term hospice care and respite services at the Sussman House, a hospice facility located on the Pen Bay campus, Rockport, Maine.
