SPRUCE HEAD — Ruth V. Peterson, 86, of Spruce Head passed away peacefully at the Sussman House in Rockport on January 19, 2023. Ruth was born on March 25, 1936, to Eskil Peterson and Gerta Lind.

Ruth grew up in Spruce Head and attended local schools. She graduated from St. George High School.

Ruth had many jobs throughout her life. She was a homemaker, but also picked shrimp in Port Clyde, got herring from all the factories in Rockland, worked as a CNA and nurse’s aide, and worked at the Great Eastern Mussel Farm in St. George. Ruth was also a part of the Purple Hat Club in Cushing.

Ruth had many hobbies, such as knitting, crocheting, painting, and gardening. Ruth’s garden and her flowers were precious to her. She loved animals and all her pets, especially her labs. She also cherished her friends dearly and held them close to her heart.

Ruth is predeceased by her father, Eskil Peterson; sons Paul Huntley and Phillip Huntley; and the father of her children, Robert Huntley.

She is survived by her sons Mark Huntley and Chris Huntley; and granddaughter, Angela King.

Per Ruth’s request, no services will be held.
