Rockport Public Library celebrates National Poetry Month
ROCKPORT — The Rockport Public Library will be celebrating National Poetry Month with various poetry readings from Maine poets and groups.
Poetry Reading April 2 and 30 at 4 p.m. Members the Poets Corner, the poetry group that meets twice monthly at the Rockport Public Library will be reading poems from their new Chapbook. Members of the group include George Chappell, Jim Ostheimer, Jon Potter, Bill Eberle, Trina French, Eileen Hugo and Paul McFarland.
Carol Bachofner Poetry Reading April 8 at 6 p.m. Maine poet, Carol Bachofner writes poems that appeal to the idea that we are all connected, to each other and to nature. She writes with a strong sense of place through narrative.
Stephanie Marshall Poetry Reading April 9 at 4 p.m. Stephanie Marshall is a Mainer whose writing is influenced by a childhood spent roaming the potato fields of Aroostook County. Listen to Marshall read some of her poetry as part of the celebration for Poetry Month.
Poetry Reading with Jessica Eaton and Jessica Loudermilk April 16 at 4 p.m. Eaton and Loudermilk are members of the Togus Writers group, a weekly workshop, at the VA hospital in Augusta. They recently won first place awards for their poetry at the 10th annual Maine Veterans Creative Arts Festival at Togus in Augusta.
Poetry Reading with Carolyn Locke April 23 at 4 p.m., the author of Always This Falling and Not One Thing: Following Matsuo Basho's Narrow Road to the Interior, grew up in Hudson, New Hampshire where she spent many hours roaming the woods and fields, and taking her favorite books to her treetop retreat where she read and day dreamed about traveling.
