Rockland’s first City Planner announces retirement
ROCKLAND — “I want to congratulate Rhett,” said City Manager Tom Luttrell. “He took on the job that was the first of a kind in the City, and he’s done a wonderful job for us.”
Rhett Lamb, Rockland’s first ever City Planner, has put in his resignation for retirement from the City of Rockland. Luttrell made the retirement announcement at the tail end of a three hour, twenty-five minute Agenda-Setting meeting, Sept. 4, 2024.
“He’ll be deeply missed, but we still have him until November,” said Luttrell. “We’ll see him around, but we’ll be sad here at City Hall without his guidance. That’s for sure.”
Following the departure of the previous Planning Board, it was Lamb who provided direction to the new Board guiding them through the first few meetings.
Councilor Nate Davis suggested that the City Council do something in the future to honor Lamb’s work, and Councilor Kaitlin Callahan said: “Congratulations on your retirement, Rhett. I envy you.”
Lamb began the role near the beginning of 2022.
