Ralph Albert Pease, obituary
APPLETON — Ralph Albert Pease, 95, passed away on February 4, 2023 after a period of declining health. He was happy to be home surrounded by his close friends, whom he considered his family at the time of his death. Born in Appleton on February 27, 1927, he was the oldest son of Albert and Mildred (Edgecomb) Pease.
During WWII, Ralph served in the U.S. Coast Guard and and was proud of his military service often talking about his time at sea.
In addition to being a Veteran, Ralph was a long standing member of the Shriners, who he fully supported after his son spent two years in Boston at the Shriner’s Hospital. In addition, he was a Mason and a member of the local VFW and was proud of his membership plaques hanging on his wall.
Ralph owned and operated his own poultry farm for many years. He worked seven days a week, saying “the chickens didn’t know what a weekend was, they are hungry every day!” Late in life, he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, taking daily walks on Magog and Peabody Roads, making friends with all of the neighbors. Ralph loved dancing and when he could no longer dance, told stories of his times going to dances at Crystal Falls
Ralph was sharp as a tack right until his final days. His last day awake was a fabulous one, he had his bird feeders filled and placed so that he could see them from his hospital bed. He called his stock broker to inquire how Ford Motor Co stock was doing, and then had a great time flirting with his CNA. Ralph was always so full of life with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his son, Dwayne Pease; Patricia Harper, the mother of Dwayne; brother, Floyd Pease; and two special women, Marilyn Pearce and Opal Smith.
Surviving is his grandson, Matthew Pease, and one nephew, Stephen Pease. Also surviving is the family he chose, Steven Jarry, Heidi Rahkoken, Brian and Melanie Bragg, who cared for him daily.
Special gratitude is extended to the staff at WCGH, home health nurse Susan Dupler, and the hospice care team for their care and assistance.
Friends are welcome to attend a visitation on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m., at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
