Norman Eugene Maddocks, obituary
Norman Eugene Maddocks, 65, went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2021, at Hospice House, in Auburn, Maine. He was born to Eugene and Lucille Maddocks on May 12, 1956, in Belfast and raised in Stockton Springs by his uncle and aunt, John and Nancy Maddocks.
Following his graduation from Searsport District High School in 1974, he served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Debbie Nichols in 1978 and together they raised their family in Turner.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he had many friends and acquaintances that he was fond of seeing regularly. He enjoyed four-wheeling in Aroostook County at the family camp and with his son in Canton. Hunting on the family farm in Monroe with his brothers, uncles, and cousins was a highlight of each year. He followed sports and politics and gloried in lively conversations about both. He would pull over at any time to look at a classic car or truck and was partial to the '56 Chevy.
Norm will be remembered as a hard worker, at times carrying two jobs. Free time was spent traveling up and down the east coast and to Canada on family trips, or throughout Maine to visit family. BBQ's, gathering around kitchen tables, tinkering in garages, working at a job site, or chores all mattered to him if a loved one was by his side. He never met a stranger, his outgoing personality allowed him to find friends everywhere he went. He spoke and showed his love freely, he was a man who shook hands, looked you in the eye, gave hugs, kisses, and back-rubs, and made it a point to acknowledge anyone who held his respect.
Norman will be deeply missed by his wife, Debbie; son, Jason; daughter, Jennifer; son-in-law, Michael; grandchildren Abigail (12), Maya (6), Kayne (21), Madison (19), and Seth (17), Aunt Nancy, Uncle Brian; his brothers Richard and wife Diana, Scott and wife Vicki; in-laws Arlene and Albert, George, Nancy and Charlie, Wayne, Lesley and Mike, David; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He will be reunited in Heaven with Uncle John, mother-in-law Sandra, sister Debbie, Byron and Nancy, Heidi, Daisy, Karen, and many other family and friends whom he has missed.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 9, at 3 p.m., Calvary Baptist Church, 20 North Main Street, Turner, Maine.
A service of interment Tuesday, August 10, will begin at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave, Belfast, ME 04915, at 1 p.m., and will conclude at Greenlawn Cemetery in Swanville, Maine.
