‘New Work by Faculty’ exhibit at Messler Gallery
ROCKPORT — “New Work by Faculty,” an exhibition of contemporary wood furniture, furnishings, turnings, sculpture, and stringed instruments has opened for the summer at the Messler Gallery of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, in Rockport. The show runs through September 8, 2021 and visitors are welcome.
The 19 woodworkers, designers, and artists whose work is on display are accomplished professional makers who are traveling from around the nation to teach at the Rockport school this year.
“We are delighted to be able to welcome the public back to the Messler Gallery with such a strong collection of work,” says Gallery Director Victoria Allport, in a news release. “The stylistic diversity of the show is just what you would expect at a school that is committed to helping every student find their personal voice.”
Exhibitors include Dixie Biggs (Gainesville, Florida), John Bryan (North Yarmouth), Annie Evelyn (Bakersville, North Carolina), Aaron Fedarko (Camden), Adrian Ferrazzutti (Guelph, Ontario), Mark Gardner (Saluda, North Carolina), Garrett Hack (Thetford Center, Vermont), Owain Harris (Center Barnstead, New Hampshire), Thomas Hucker (Jersey City, New Jersey), Beth Ireland (St. Petersburg, Florida), Yuri Kobayashi (Camden), Peter Korn (Rockland), Mike Korsak (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), James Macdonald (Burnham), Erica Moody (Waldoboro), Christopher Poehlmann (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Brian Reid (Rockland), Libby Schrum (Camden), and Chelsea Witt (Warren).
“New Work by Faculty” is sponsored by an EFASO grant from The Furniture Society.
The Messler Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. It is located at 25 Mill Street in Rockport, on the campus of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. The exhibition may also be seen on the Center’s website, www.woodschool.org.
