MSP investigates swatting call at Maine Secretary of State’s home in Manchester
On Friday, December 29, 2023, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Augusta Regional Communication Center received a call from an unknown male advising he had broken into a home in Manchester, according to a Dec. 30 news release from the Maine Dept. of Public Safety.
Maine State Police responded to the residence for what ultimately was a swatting call. The home was the residence of Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows.
Bellows was not at the residence at the time. No one was inside the home, the release said.
Troopers conducted an exterior check of the residence and an interior sweep of the home at Bellow’s request. Nothing suspicious was located. The incident remains under investigation. The Maine State Police is working with law enforcement partners to provide special attention to any and all appropriate locations. That is all the information that will be released at this time, the department said.
