Melissa was born in Portland, and spent her youth in South Portland (Redbank) where she first began developing her lifelong community. Regardless of where she is, she brings people together in love, ensuring that all are as comfy as they can possibly be. She is survived by her adoring husband, John Majkut; sons, Kyle and River Bailey; sisters, Valerie Chandler and Robin Lowe; father, Richard Lowe; stepmother, Marilyn Graham; spiritual community, the Maine Council of
Women; Maine Fibershed and unending friends and family.
She is predeceased by her mother, Mary Lowe; and nephew, Jody.
Melissa was multi-faceted. She has been a mother of her two precious sons, who brought her unending joy and occasionally a few grey hairs, a sculptor, painter, bear and marine mammal rehabber, Fibershed leader and artist, farmer warrior, avid gardener, photographer, animal habitat developer and maker of all things creative. Her spirituality was intertwined with nature.
