‘Maggie Goes to Maine’ wins writing competition
ROCKLAND — Maggie Goes to Maine by Betsey Anderson (Maine Authors Publishing 2014) was the winner of the children's book category in the Dog Writers Association of America's 2014 Writing Competition. The winners were announced at an awards banquet held in New York City, NY on February 16 where Anderson was awarded the Maxwell Medallion.
"Congratulations to Betsey. She created a quality book and it is wonderful she was honored for all her hard work," said Jane Karker, president of Maine Authors Publishing, in a news release.
Anderson's children's book, Maggie Goes to Maine is written in verse about a city dog's adventures the first time she explores the fields, woods and lake at her family's summer camp in Maine. The story is ideal to help children 3-6 unwind before naptime, bedtime or anytime, according to the news release. It was illustrated by Thomas Block of The Blank Canvas Studio.
