Lincolnville Center eighth grade raises funds for Quebec trip
CAMDEN - Eighth grade students from the Lincolnville Center School spent their Saturday, September 29, at Key Bank in the Hannaford’s Plaza doing their fall car wash to help raise funds to finance a trip to Quebec, Canada, this fall.
Ben Edes, the eighth grade advisor for Lincolnville Center School, said the money is to finance an annual trip.
“We are going to Quebec, but we haven’t made that decision yet for this year,” he said. “It also covers two thirds of the expenses for the graduation ceremonies and they earn money for yearbooks, so they don’t have to pay for a yearbook at school’s end.”
Edes said business has been good for the car wash.
“We’ve been doing over $100 an hour,” he said. “Usually these car washes go between $300 and $550, so this is a pretty good one. They are going to be out here about four hours so maybe it will be a little more.”
Edes teaches social studies and is a soccer coach at the school.
“We have a diverse population at the school,” he said. “Some have gone to Europe, South America, but for some it will be the first time they’ve left the Midcoast.”
Edes said there were 22 students involved in the car wash.
“There are 11 students per shift,” he said, “and we’ve had two, two-hour shifts. The total class number is 24 students.”
