James “Mike” Cotter, Jr., obituary
James M. Cotter, Jr., “Mike,” entered eternal life on October 8, 2024. He was born April 23, 1938 in Mount Kisco, New York to James and Katherine Cotter.
Mike retired as Vice President of Manhattan Savings Bank in New York. It was a lifelong dream to move to Maine. He started his second career at Hamilton Marine and enjoyed working for Wayne and Lorraine. He loved Maine for its people, scenery, and waters, and he enjoyed traveling. Mike was touched when the Searsport Vikings basketball teams honored him and his friends, Paul and John, for being devoted fans and gave them lifetime passes. He got such enjoyment when visiting family and especially when they visited Maine. He was proud of his family, their character, and their achievements.
Mike is survived by his wife of 42 years, Suzan; his children Tim Cotter (Gail), Doreen Stone, and Katherine Cotter (David); his grandchildren Timothy Cotter (Amanda), David Cotter (Kate), Matthew Cotter (Alexis), and Shannon Farnung (Pat); and great-grandchildren Max, Charlotte, Hess, and Abigail.
He was predeceased by his son Jimmy Cotter, and his sister, Joan Haus.
My dear beloved Mike, families are eternal and forever, so this is not goodbye, but that I will see you later. You are in Heavenly Father’s hands, rest in peace.
There will be a graveside service October 15, at 11 a.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, in Searsport, followed by a reception at 12 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 297 Belmont Ave, Belfast.
