Hutchinson Center hires new student services coordinator
BELFAST — Nancy Bergerson has been appointed coordinator for student services and community education at the University of Maine Hutchinson Center.
Bergerson will oversee all student support services at the Hutchinson Center, including academic advising, admissions, new student orientation, academic accommodations and adult degree completion, according to Hutchinson Center Director Patricia Libby, in a news release.
Bergerson will play an integral role in connecting Hutchinson Center students and staff with the greater UMaine community and the University of Maine System by advocating for new and continuing student services, programs and resources, according to the release.
In addition, Bergerson will work with Maine artists to plan and curate exhibits at the Hutchinson Center’s H. Allen and Sally Fernald Art Gallery. She is seeking ways to partner with speakers and performing artists with a goal of expanding the center’s role in Belfast and surrounding communities.
In 2014, Bergerson joined UMaine after working for a number of years as a medical office manager, medical underwriter, corporate supervisor and corporate trainer. She holds a BUS degree in media studies and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, both from UMaine.
She is a 2018 graduate of the Midcoast Leadership Academy and a participant in the 2018–19 cohort of the UMaine Diversity Leadership Institute. She serves on the board of the Belfast Creative Coalition.
“As a lifelong learner, I fully support the ongoing and self-motivated pursuit of education that our students demonstrate," said Bergerson, in the release.
Bergerson is available, by appointment, Monday through Friday, 338.8049; nancy.bergerson@maine.edu
