Gordon Lester Skinner, obituary
WASHINGTON — Gordon Lester Skinner, 75, of Washington, passed away at his home on October 3, 2023.
Gordon was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on September 24, 1948, to parents Gordon Alton and Mary (Palmer) Skinner. He grew up in Marlborough, Massachusetts and attended local schools.
On July 14, 1973, Gordon married Diane Marie Gleason and they were together for 50 loving years.
For 50 years, he was owner and president of G&G Wire Products, a wire fabrication company. In high school, Gordon was part of the Rifle and Pistol team. He went on to place third in his class in the NSSA World Skeet Shooting Championship. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, being outdoors, Dutch oven cooking, boat rides on the lake with his dogs, and country music. Gordon was a ‘musician in the making’.
He volunteered at the Veteran’s Fishing Derby in Marlborough, was a longtime member of the Marlboro Fish and Game Association and helped with the Boy Scouts troops.
Gordon was a stubborn but very loving, genuine, and caring man. He was protective of his family and was a father figure to many people. He will be deeply missed.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Diane; sons Gordon and wife Julianna, and Brian; grandchildren Haley Marie, Katelyn Corleen, and Eden James; brothers Glenn and wife Rhonda, and Karl; Shenanigans partner Karen Busa; Giant leprechaun John Rinne; and several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, from 2 - 4 p.m., at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main Street, Waldoboro, Maine.
There will be a gathering October 21, from 2 - 10 p.m., at Marlboro Fish and Game, Muddy Lane, Marlborough, Massachusetts.
