WARREN — Gaye M. Barlow, 93, died peacefully, Friday, December 15, 2023 at Breakwater Commons in Rockland, following a period of declining health. Born in Sabattus, April 25, 1930, she was the daughter of Karl and Faye Matthews Stetson. Educated locally she graduated from Thomaston High School.
Always a hard worker, Gaye has held several jobs including as a quality control inspector at Sylvania.
In the late 1970’s Gaye married the love of her life, Al Barlow. Together they made their home in Warren where they resided until Al’s passing.
Gaye was a wonderful hostess and loved to entertain. She kept a beautiful home and sharing it with others, especially at the holidays, made her extremely happy. Her grandchildren have fond memories of the delicious meals, delightful treats, and parties she threw, making them special for everyone.
For many years she wintered in Bonita Springs, Florida where she was known as the ‘Muffin Lady’. There she made delicious muffins to sell to help raise money for the park in which she lived.
Her daughter described her as ‘quite the character’. She had an adventurous spirit and could be seen riding her motorcycle and even roller skating in her 50’s. In her 70’s she participated in a variety show, dressing up as
Shirley Temple while lip syncing and dancing to ‘Good Ship Lollipop.
