Frances E. (Dickey) Twitchell, obituary
CAMDEN — Frances Elaine (Dickey) Twitchell, 73, of Camden, passed away on October 25, 2022, after a long struggle with dementia.
Frannie was born on December 26, 1948 to Norman Crosby Dickey and Bertha Velma Pearse Dickey in the Camden Hospital. She graduated from Camden High School in 1967. She met Allen Twitchell while in high school, and while waiting for him to return from his military service in Viet Nam, she helped take care of her father, who had polio, and assisted with his appliance repair business; she also played a lot of games with her family, and laughed a lot.
Allen and Frannie wed on April 2, 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah and went on to have 4 children – Kimberly, Thomas, Laura and Peter – whom they raised with love and laughter in Rockport and Camden.
Frannie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in various capacities with joy and devotion throughout her lifetime.
Not one to sit still, Frannie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and preserving, going for walks, cooking and baking, playing games and spending time with her family. She brought sunshine to each activity, finding and creating laughter during times both easy and hard, making long days seem shorter and burdens seem lighter. A yearly tradition Frannie always looked forward to hosting the Thanksgiving Pie Night with her friends, family and neighbors.
Frannie found she was happiest when spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren, but she also looked for ways to serve in her community. She loved helping in her children’s schools, sewed countless bright and colorful pillowcases to help cheer up patients in the hospital, and found many other ways to help wherever she could. Frannie walked with joy and selfless acts of service through this world and leaves us with a legacy of smiles and kindness.
Frannie is predeceased by her parents; a son, Thomas; and a grandson, Grant.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Allen Twitchell; Kimberly (Matt) Seamons of Spanish Fork, Utah; Laura (Jacob) Dubreuil of Winthrop, Maine; Peter (Jenna) Twitchell of Rockport, Maine; 2 granddaughters, 7 grandsons; siblings Lester (Constance) Dickey of American Fork, Utah; Norma Peterson of Rigby, Idaho; Debra Manning of Scottsdale, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service followed by a reception, will be held Friday, November 4, 2022, at 2 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 64 Old County Road, Rockport.
Burial will be private. Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the Maine Chapter of the March of Dimes, 136 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074.
