Falcons start semi-pro football season 1-2
KNOX — The Midcoast Falcons semi-professional football team, based in Knox, is off to a 1-2 start in the New England Football League.
The Falcons play in the Maine Division of the Maritime Conference alongside the Notre Dame Cobras (Alfred, Maine), New Hampshire Timberwolves (Machester, N.H.), Port City Vipers (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Twin City Riot (Hampden, Maine).
The team opened the season July 19 in Alfred with a 33-0 loss to the Cobras.
After the loss, the Falcons returned to their home field at Larrabee Field for a July 26 contest against the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves bested the Waldo County-based team 25-0.
With two losses to open the season under its belt, the Falcons were ready to win.
And, on Aug. 3, the Falcons finally got a victory, defeating the Riot 22-6 at Larrabee Field.
Details were not available for any games.
The Falcons are currently third in the standings, behind the Cobras (3-0) and Timberwolves (2-0), which are tied for first. The Vipers and Riot, tied for fourth, are both 0-2.

Sept. 28 – vs. Port City Vipers – Larrabee Field (Knox) – 1 p.m.
Oct. 4 or 5 – First Playoff Game – TBA
Admission into home games is $5. Senior citizens and military members are free.
