Delwyn Lawrence Radley, Jr., obituary
VINALHAVEN — Our beloved “Gus” passed unexpectedly Monday July 11, 2022 on Vinalhaven.
Born April 13, 1972 in Bangor, Maine, Gus is survived by his wife Britt, son Myles, mother Susan, brother Christopher (Kim), and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends near and far, especially in Bucksport and Vinalhaven.
Gus is predeceased by father Delwyn L. Radley, Sr., Aunt Barbie Dyer, uncles James Radley and Rodney Dyer, paternal grandparents Charles and Ella Radley, maternal grandparents Fay and Mary Dyer.
Always kind, generous, helpful, and enthusiastic, Gus loved to have fun and spend time with family and friends. He loved his dogs, hunting, playing games, and lending a hand where needed.
Very patriotic, he felt blessed to be an American.
A lobsterman from a young age, he loved his time on the water but nothing filled him with more happiness and pride than being a good husband and father.
Gus loved spending time with his son, Myles. Whether it be playing a game of catch, hitting golf balls, or teaching him how to fish, haul, or hunt, Gus loved to simply be with his son. Hauling traps or chopping wood, together was the most wonderful place to be.
Gus was always available to help out where needed, offer encouragement, and give others opportunities. His friendly smile, giving spirit, and welcoming ways will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Please join us Friday July 29, 2022, 1pm, at the Union Church on Vinalhaven to celebrate Gus’ life and all he meant to so many. Reception to follow in the Vestry.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Gus Radley Memorial Fund, c/o Camden National Bank, 6 E. Main St., Vinalhaven, ME 04863 to benefit his young son.
