ISLESBORO — Connie Lyn Leach (Campbell), 68, passed away peacefully under the care of Woodlands Memory Care Facility in Rockland, Maine on April 24, 2022.
 
Connie was born on December 4, 1953 in Farmington, Maine, to Stewart and Elinor Campbell. She grew up in Crystal Lake, Connecticut, and graduated from Stafford Springs High School. After graduation, she went on to hairdressing school where she would later work in that profession.  
 
Connie would go to race tracks with her family and watch her father race cars on dirt tracks. Her Dad would race against a Robert Leach Jr. in Connecticut. That's how their relationship started and then she and Robert Leach Jr. moved back to the state of Maine. 

On March 1, 1980, Robert and Connie were married and soon after started their family in Islesboro. Racing hadn't left Robert's blood and he started racing again in the early 90s. Connie was at a race at a local track in Maine with Robert. During that weekend, they had a race called the Powder Puff race which was made up of all female drivers. Connie, without the knowledge of Robert, found a car to borrow and participated in that night and did quite well for someone not doing it before; Robert was surprised, like many, that she had participated. 
  
After her three children were off to school, she found herself at Islesboro Central School, driving a school bus. She would travel all over to take the kids to away sports trips and even to Boston to see them depart on Junior/Senior class trips. She also had the pleasure of being a chaperone on her own kids' class trips going to England, France and Italy. Oftentimes she would be seen with her 4-legged travel companion, Willow.
 
She was a loving mother to Joshua, Andrew, and Tara Leach, a grandmother to Hailey and Abagail Leach and Lily and J.J. Brochu, and a sister to Tracey and Ronald Campbell. 

Connie was predeceased by her husband, Robert Leach Jr; brother Ronald Campbell; father, Stewart Campbell; and mother, Elinor Campbell (Rolfe).
 
She is survived by Joshua and Janice Leach of Islesboro and their four children, Andrew and Essie Leach of Scarborough, Tara Leach of Islesboro and her two children, and Tracey Campbell and her partner Kevin Dunning of Millbridge.  

A graveside service will be held Saturday June 25, 2022, at 11 a.m., at Maple Grove Cemetery in Islesboro.
