Carver Memorial Library implements new pandemic service levels
Carver Memorial Library outlines its color-coded service plan for the pandemic
Carver Memorial Library in Searsport has developed a color-coded service level plan for the pandemic. Each color represents a level of service, from fully open to partial restrictions to curbside only and closed. We determine which level we are in based on county and local numbers such as the daily case rate, test positivity rate, and infection rate, as well as watching the county risk level for schools. We also take into consideration local recommendations, the size and layout of our building, and staff availability. Details and information about our pandemic response and service levels is available online at https://www.carverlibrary.org/covid19.html.
We are currently at yellow, and orange is a very real possibility as the numbers get worse. At the orange level, we will have to limit visits to one household at a time for grab and go service. We plan to try out a lighted “please wait” sign in the window of the back door so that people can see whether there is already someone inside as they drive in, without having to come up the stairs in the cold.
We will do our best to communicate which level we are at clearly and with as much notice as possible. If you have any questions about services or need help with something, just ask and we will see what we can do.
Curbside service is also available, just call us at 548-2303.
A number of people have expressed how glad they are that the library is here, open, and that they are able to borrow books and movies. It’s wonderful to hear that, and we hope we can continue offering services and keeping our community connected as much as the pandemic allows.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to keep everyone safe and healthy.
