Carolyn “Peachie” Marshall, obituary
LAKELAND, Florida — Carolyn “Peachie” Marshall, 96, passed peacefully at her winter home in Lakeland, Florida, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, with her daughters at her side.
Peachie was born November 16, 1927, in Rockland, Maine, the daughter of Samuel Jay and Edith Candage. She grew up in Rockland and graduated from Rockland High School.
Peachie was a member of the Eastern Star and the bowling league at Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes. Peachie worked at Van Baalens and later at Tibbetts Industries. Always crafty, she loved to knit, making sweaters for all her family members. Summer weekends were always spent on Marshall Island on Megunticook Lake.
She met Herbert Marshall, and they married December 27, 1947, and raised their family of six children, the six “W’s”, whose initials were on her license plate for years.
Never an idle lady, Peachie was always ready to go on an adventure, whether it was bingo, Foxwoods, a cruise, or day trips with family. Cocktail hour was promptly at 4 p.m., on the porch, and her chocolate chip cookies were legendary.
Peachie was an honest and non-judgmental lady who was loved by everyone. Family meant everything to her.
Peachie was predeceased by her husband, Herbert; her son Wesley; granddaughter Tracey; and grandson Jeremy.
She is survived by her children Wayne Marshall of Warren, Wanda Lassiter of Lakeland and Camden, Warren and Paula Marshall, Wendy and Michael Brown, all of Camden; and Willy and Missy Marshall of Rangeley.
She is also survived by Holly Marshall, Elise Marshall, Lindy Archable; a special sister, Martha Leach; and many special nieces and nephews.
She has 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will take place in the spring, to be announced at a later date.
