Camden-Rockport ed tech resigns after taking gun to school
ROCKPORT — The Educational Technician who took a handgun to Camden-Rockport Elementary School has resigned, according to a Nov. 3 news release from the superintendent’s office.
“We know many members of the community were obviously concerned that a loaded gun was brought into the Camden-Rockport Elementary School last Friday,” said School Administrative District 28 Superintendent Maria Libby. “I provided as much information as I could and I appreciate those who understood that we had a process to follow, much of which was bound by confidentiality laws.”
Meaghan Collier, the staff member who brought the handgun to school in her lunch bag, has not been on school grounds since the incident, Libby said. Collier officially resigned her position Tuesday, November 1, and is no longer employed by SAD 28.
Collier, 23, of Sidney, was charged by Rockport police Friday morning, Oct. 28, with Possession of a Firearm of Public School Property, after a loaded Glock.380 fell out of her lunch bag in a staff lounge at Rockport-Elementary School, on Route 90, in Rockport.
