Regular meeting of the Reading Group of the Camden Philosophical Society, 4 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. The reading selection for October will be the essay "What Pragmatism Is" by Charles Sanders Peirce.

Paul Marshall presents his memoir, Maine Boy Goes to War, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. Marshall grew up in the woods of northern Maine; his world changed when he was called to serve as a combat medic during World War II.

Doug Hitchcox, Maine Audubon's Staff Naturalist, will give a report on "State of the Birds" hosted by the Midcoast Audubon Society, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library.

Monday, October 20

Health Insurance Requirements (ACA) Update provided by Dan Wyman of Allen Insurance and Financial, noon, at the Camden Public Library. The ACA requires Americans to have health insurance or pay a tax penalty. The next "open enrollment" period for individual health insurance policies is November 15 to February 15.

Tuesday, October 21

"Adventure in Guadalajara," 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. Join the Kalajian family for their account of two years working, going to school, and travelling in amazing and diverse Mexico. Pete Kalajian taught physics, chemistry, and astronomy at the American School Foundation.

Thursday, October 23

"An Empty Place at the Table" memorial display by New Hope for Women, all day at the Camden Public Library.

The Camden Conference hosts Prof. Seth Singleton on "History and Myth in Russian Foreign Policy" on the divergent strands of Russian thinking, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library.
