Belfast Police arrest Wiscasset man on multiple charges, including possession of drugs
BELFAST — The Belfast Police Dept. has charged a Wiscasset man with Violating Conditions of Release, Operating After Suspension, Refusal to Submit and Assault on an Officer, Aggravated Furnishing of Scheduled Drugs (Class B) and Unlaw Possession of Scheduled Drugs (Class C), with potentially more charges forthcoming, according to Belfast Police Chief Bobby Cormier.
The charges stem from an investigation begun Oct. 4, just after 9 p.m., when police were dispatched to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Hunt Road.
Belfast Officer Tribuzio located the vehicle, a Kia Soul, at the end of Hunt Road and stopped it. The driver was questioned and released, according to Cormer.
“Sometime later after clearing the call, officers learned the driver they had stopped on Hunt Road earlier had given a false name, was violating conditions of release for a previous arrest and had a suspended driver’s license,” Cormier wrote in an Oct. 28 news release.
On October 5, just after midnight, Officer Tribuzio found the same vehicle parked in front of a Belmont Ave. house.
“When she attempted to place the driver under arrest, he fled on foot into the woods,” Cormier said. “Officer Tribuzio radioed for assistance and pursued him into the woods. At one point he threw a large rock at her to prevent from being arrested. Eventually he was taken into custody with some assistance from other units and was transported to Waldo County Jail.”
Belfast police arrested Hector Bohan, 33, of Wiscasset.
During the stop, “officers observed what appeared to be evidence of illegal narcotics, and a locked safe in the vehicle, which was seized in order to obtain a search warrant,” Cormier said.
After obtaining a search warrant, police, “learned that the safe contained a large amount of illegal drugs to include over 64 grams of Fentanyl, over 45 grams of Heroin and 1.23 grams of Methamphetamine all packaged for sale and a digital scale,” said Cormier.
Bohan is currently being held at Waldo County Jail and has a court date of November 18.
