Arlene T. Alley, obituary
PITTSTON — Arlene T. Alley, 84, died peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, following a life long battle with heart disease and diabetes.
Born in Rockland, July 1, 1938, she was the daughter of William and Anna Bruno Thorndike.
A hard worker her entire life, Arlene worked many years as a housekeeper in the hospitality/hotel industry.
Arlene’s number one priority in life was her family. She would do anything to make sure they were taken care of and had what they needed. She was a talented crafter, often going door to door to sell her crafts in order to help out her family.
Going out to eat was one of her favorite pastimes. When she couldn’t get out, she would order in and send one of her children to pick it up. She loved to tell a good story and was always open and willing to talk about anything.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her siblings, Sylvester Thorndike, Melvina Boyce and Elzada Lamarr; her children, Clara Alley, Deborah Alley and Darrell Alley; and her beloved companion, Robert ‘Bob’ Maddox, in 2014; Arlene is survived by her children, Lucille Crafts, William ‘Henry’ Alley, Rosemary Stone, James Alley, Thomas Alley; a brother William Thorndike; 18 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 1 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
