MIDCOAST — As One Less Worry begins its fourth annual Tote Project, the nonprofit has added a new collection-site partnership with Green with Envy Salons.

With locations in Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Augusta and Portland, Green with Envy Salon’s participation will mean an increase in totes collected and significant growth in communities benefiting from the grooming product drive, according to a news release.

The Tote Project asks persons to fill reusable totes with grooming products and deliver them to a Green with Envy Salon between November 23 and December 3.

Reusable totes should be clean and must contain unopened, full-sized: pads or tampons, toothpaste, toothbrush, bar soap and shampoo.

Additional items, such as deodorant, conditioner, laundry pods or lotion, may be included as individuals wish.

People are encouraged to follow their hearts, but no food.

Rockland-based One Less Worry is a nonprofit that provides personal care necessities and essential grooming products to those in need. They currently distribute these products to a network of 19 Knox County locations.

Although they provide 14,880 rolls of toilet paper yearly to three local food pantries as well as hundreds of toothpastes, toothbrushes, and other grooming products, OLW’s primary focus is ensuring women and teens have the pads and tampons they need. This year they have already distributed more than 70,000 pads and tampons.

OLW’s Tote Project has been responsible for placing bags filled with necessary grooming products in the hands of hundreds of people over the last three years, according to the release. They are handed to homeless folks, those struggling with relationship abuse, food pantry clients, families living in cars, and many organizations large and small who work tirelessly on behalf of Mainers.

From December through early Spring, totes will be distributed with many returning to the communities where they were donated.

Green with Envy’s partnership with One Less Worry’s Tote Project means more people in more places will have access to pivotal grooming products.
