After 33 years, the Morongs are closing HAV2
CAMDEN — Caroline Morong announced Thursday that HAV2, the business many local people know as Harbor Audio Video, will be closing June 1 after 33 years in business.
"Times have changed so much since our humble beginnings on Main Street in 1983," said Morong, who owns HAV2 with her husband Wayne. "We've had 33 years of success with loyal and amazing employees and customers."
Located at 87 Elm St. (Route 1), she said that HAV2 will continue renting movies through April and will hold a going-out-of-business sale through the month of May.
The original HAV was located in downtown Camden on Main Street, selling laser disks and videos, then the business was split and video rentals and music were sold from a location on Tannery Lane, at the former IGA building.
"The fact is the world has moved past the storefront DVD rental business and it's time for us to say goodbye," she said.
Over the years, HAV2 has sold at-home entertainment (movies, music and television shows) on five different formats: laser disc, VHS, Beta, DVD and BluRay. The business has also sold and rented audio-video equipment.
HAV2 currently employs five people.
The store hours will remain the same through April 23: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday noon to 7 p.m.
The going-out-of-business sale, which Morong said will be huge and include not only movies and audio but fixtures and equipment, starts Saturday, April 30 at 9 a.m.
