CAMDEN —  The Outreach Committee of the First Congregational Church of Camden is pleased to report that proceeds from sales at Heavenly Threads Thrift Shop have accounted for more than $43,000 in donations to organizations and other charitable causes located in Knox County and Lincolnville in 2019.

Local organizations that received donations from Heavenly Threads in 2019 include Area Interfaith Outreach, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mid-Maine, Camden Area District Nursing, Coastal Children’s Museum, Community Emergency Shelter Fund, Knox County Homeless Coalition, The Landing Place, Knox County Health Clinic, MCH Meals on Wheels, Midcoast Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, Mid-Coast Habitat for Humanity, Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition, New Hope for Women, Parent Program of Mid-Coast Maine, Pen Bay YMCA, Penquis-Home Heating, Rockland District Nursing, Trekkers, and Window Dressers.

In addition, Heavenly Threads provided funding in support of several charitable programs that benefit local families; namely, the First Congregational Church of Camden Community Thanksgiving Dinner and Dove Tree program, plus a variety of camp scholarships.

A mission of the First Congregational Church of Camden since 1994, Heavenly Threads has supported many local organizations over the past 25 years through its thrift shop sales.

Heavenly Threads depends solely on donated items, which can be dropped off during the shop’s regular business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Remember, when you donate or purchase items at Heavenly Threads, you are helping many charitable groups,” said Melissa Chapman, of Heavenly Threads, in a news release. “Our staff and volunteers are proud to sustain this ‘pay-it-forward’ mission of the First Congregational Church.”

Heavenly Threads Thrift Shop is located at 57 Elm Street, in the former manse of the First Congregational Church of Camden. When the shop first opened for business, gently used clothing was the main attraction. Through steadily growing community support, the shop has evolved into a full-fledged emporium, selling a wide variety of artwork, books, household items, and jewelry. The shop now fills every nook and cranny of the two-story, circa 1830 home it occupies.
