Seen on Halloween, Belfast
Cedar Street is not a secret this time of year. The amount of candy that moves out of Belfast’s ten-block Halloween landing strip is the stuff of lore. The unprepared homeowner runs through a suburban-sized bowl of treats in 15 minutes and spends the rest of the night in the dark, pretending not to be home. The longtime resident saves for a year in advance, starting the day after Halloween. Still there’s never enough.
But on the outside, it’s all good fun. This year, the young trick-or-treaters were on the streets before 4 p.m. By 10, you could go outside and hear someone howling. Here are a few scenes, shot by available light in that part of town, Oct. 31.
