Alexander Shaw at WRFR and Old School Symposium Friday
ROCKLAND — Alexander Shaw of Renew Rockland will be on WRFR and at an Old School dinner symposium this Friday, April 8. The live broadcast interview begins at 4 p.m. on 93.3 FM in Rockland and 99.3 FM in Camden. Following the radio show, the Old School will host Shaw at a dinner symposium. The topic, appropriately, will be "Renewing Rockland."
Shaw, known as Zander to his friends, moved to Rockland with his family three years ago. He is a freelance architect who works with design firms both in Boston and in Maine. His special interest is residential design, to which he likes to bring a practical "problem and solution" approach in which form follows function. Shaw is a member of Mid Co Lab in Thomaston, a collective of builders, artists and other makers and doers.
Renew Rockland is nonprofit created by Shaw with Nate Davis and Amy Files. The group's goal is to foster a constructive dialogue on sustainable approaches to Rockland development. The group is organizing an April 13 public forum on municipal solid waste with a focus on recycling and composting.
WRFR's Rockland Metro show each week invites a guest to bring a unique perspective on life in and around Rockland. Guests on the show often participate in an Old School dinner symposium following the show.
Dinner symposia at the Old School are free and open to the public. Each symposium is limited to twelve seats at the roundtable, so participants must reserve their place in advance. Participants must also be ready to help. The dinner is prepared and served — and the dishes washed — in collaboration by the participants. To reserve a place at the table for this Friday's dinner symposium, interested persons are invited to contact Robert Lichtman: Robert@sugarhollowglass.com
