Jackson Memorial Library displays works by Laurie Webber
TENANTS HARBOR — The Jackson Memorial Library will feature the works of Spruce Head artist Laurie Webber from April 4 through May 31. The library will display a variety of pieces including different media such as acrylic, watercolor, and pastels from Webber's collection.
An island girl at heart, Webber grew up on Matinicus where she enjoyed the company of visiting artists from a very young age. Her passion and interest in the arts continued throughout her education and into her adult life where, after beginning a family of her own, Webber began to take college courses in the arts. Her art education focused on graphic design with classes from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Webber has successfully combined her love for painting with her background in graphic design creating her own business Sea Glass Graphics where she not only sells her work but has created a line of exquisite note cards that feature her art. The work Webber will display at the library embraces her love for the ocean and deep seeded appreciation for island life.
The public is invited to a reception for the artist from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 8 where they will have the opportunity to view the artwork and speak with the artist while enjoying light refreshments.
The Jackson Memorial Library is a non-profit private library serving the town of St. George. They provide enrichment programs for all ages in the community. The library is proud to partner with Maine artists and share a wide variety of artwork with the community. The Jackson Memorial Library receives a 30% commission from the sale of art.
