Steve Cartwright displays his photos at Jackson Memorial Library
TENANTS HARBOR — The Jackson Memorial Library is featuring the works of local photographer Steve Cartwright, Feb. 3 through April 2. The library will display a variety of Cartwright's pieces including landscapes, nature images, and scenes from the Midcoast.
Freelance writer and photographer Steve Cartwright first came to Maine and Tenants Harbor by sailboat, and fell in love with both. He splits his time between Tenants Harbor and Waldoboro. A graduate of Bennington College, Steve apprenticed to Barbara Morgan, a pioneer in black and white photography, including modern dance and photomontage. He spent several decades in print journalism, including editing a newspaper for Maine's Indian tribes. He is president of the Blueberry Cove/Tanglewood board and is race director for the Blueberry Cove half marathon. Passionate about the sense of place, of community, Steve likes to focus on what grounds us, what nourishes our spirit.
The public is invited to a reception for the artist from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday Feb. 19, where they will have the opportunity to view the artwork and speak with the artist while enjoying refreshments.
The Jackson Memorial Library is a nonprofit private library serving the town of St. George. They provide enrichment programs for all ages in the community. The library is proud to partner with Maine artists and share a wide variety of artwork with the community. The Jackson Memorial Library receives a 30 percent commission from the sale of art.
