International aid work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo: local perspectives and unintended consequences
CAMDEN – Camden resident, Marisa Lloyd, has worked with various NGOs and UN agencies in Congolese refugee camps and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) since 2007. Marisa is currently the U.S. Representative and International Coordinator for H.O.P.E. Congo, a Congolese organization focused on post-conflict recovery and development in southeastern DRC. She holds a MA degree in African Studies from UCLA and a MA from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Marisa will discuss international aid work in the DRC from a do-no-harm perspective that will question common practices among international organizations on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 7 — 8:30 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. This event is free and open to all.
