The First Congregational Church of Camden welcomes new minister of music Matthew Mainster
CAMDEN — The First Congregational Church of Camden recently announced that Matthew Mainster has been hired to serve as the Minister of Music, commencing with worship services on Sunday, Jan. 3.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Mainster has been a resident of Rockport for just over a year. He is pleased to find work in his profession so close to his new home, saying in a news release, "accepting the Minister of Music position at First Congregational Church of Camden is a dream come true, and I look forward to working with the staff and the congregation in this beautiful coastal community."
In addition to playing the organ and piano during worship services, Mainster will lead the church choirs, noting, "The church has a wonderful tradition of choral and handbell music over the years, and I am so eager to take part in this legacy."
Rich Anderson, co-president of the church, said: "Matt is a talented organist and pianist who brings enthusiasm for building ensemble and a desire to create music that enhances the worship experience. We are very pleased to welcome him to the First Congregational Church."
Tony Bates, co-president of the church, said, "Matt will be responsible for coordinating the church's special music programming and working with the members of our music committee to present the Friends of Music concert series."
Mainster received his bachelor of arts degree in organ performance, piano performance and sacred music from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. He went on to earn a master of music in organ performance from the Yale School of Music in New Haven, Connecticut.
