Strom 15th birthday bash brings the Friends of CSD closer to goal
ROCKPORT — Camden Hills alumni took to the stage at the Nov. 28 Birthday Bash in Strom Auditorium, raising nearly $5,000 toward the Friends of CSD fundraising campaign that will help upgrade the facility's lighting, sound and projection systems.
Graduates from classes dating back to 1999 came together to show support for the Strom, performing a variety of music and dance numbers including a flash mob and the raucous Master of the House from Les Miserables. Between performances, the audience watched video postcards from former students whose Strom experiences have in many cases helped them get to where they are now.
Overall, more than 50 alumni came together to help the Friends of CSD with to their goal to "Raise the Curtain on a 21st Century Strom." The $112,000 project has already raised the funds to purchase a new light board in 2014 and in October of this year replaced the auditorium sound system. The final phase will be to convert most of the stage lighting to LED technology and to install a video projection system.
The Friends of CSD have been involved in many projects at Camden Hills Regional High School, and support of Strom Auditorium has always been a priority for them. Donations to the Friends (friendsofcsd.org/donate/) will ensure that Strom continues to be a quality training ground for the young people in Camden. Rockport, Hope, Lincolnville, and Appleton.
