“The Met: Live in HD” opera season opens at Strand Theatre
ROCKLAND — The Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series “The Met: Live in HD” continues for its tenth season in 2015-16, featuring 10 live transmissions from New York, plus a special 10th Anniversary Encore Performance. Season tickets are now on sale at the Strand Theatre, 345 Main Street. Tickets are also available for each individual show.
Performances include favorites such as Wagner's Tannhauser, dynamic new productions like Puccini's Manon Lescaut, and the 10th Anniversary Encore Performance of The Magic Flute. The season opens on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. with Verdi’s Il Trovatore. An “Encore” re-broadcast of each opera will also be presented on the Tuesday following each Saturday live broadcast.
Launched in 2006, “The Met: Live in HD” series of performance transmissions is shown live in high definition in movie theaters around the world. Today the series reaches more than 2,000 venues in 70 countries across six continents.
Season Ticket Packages are $278; tickets for individual broadcasts are $27/adults, $15/ students; service charges apply to online and phone orders. Tickets can be ordered from the Strand Theatre website at RocklandStrand.com; by calling 207-594-0070, M - F, noon – 4 p.m., or at the box office when the theater is open for shows.
