ROCKLAND — The Knox County Sheriff's Office reported the following activity, Oct. 21-Oct. 27, during which the agency received 268 calls for service. Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Oct. 21
Deputy Paul Pinkham came upon a suspicious vehicle in Warren and the operator was warned on trespass.
Deputy Paul Spear began an investigation of theft in Warren. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy Spear, along with assistance from Thomaston Police Officer Michael Blais, responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving three vehicles. There were minor injuries and reportable damages sustained.
Deputy John Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head involving a single vehicle whose operator left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Rockland EMS responded and transported the operator to Pen Bay Medical Center. Subsequent to this response, Emily Tripp, 22, of Spruce Head, was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence.
Sgt. James Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle whose operator swerved to miss a deer, causing him to strike a mailbox. There was reportable damage.
Sgt. Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle striking a deer, causing reportable damage.
Deputy Pinkham responded to assist Friendship Fire Department at the scene of a fire, where he conducted traffic control.
Oct. 22
Deputy Elwell conducted a radar detail in Washington. No violations were noted.
Deputy Elwell responded to assist Waldoboro police at the scene of a major traffic crash, where he conducted traffic control.
Deputy Pinkham began an investigation of burglary in Washington. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputies Pinkham and Sgt. Moore responded to a report of an adult male threatening to harm himself in Union. The male was located and transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for evaluation.
Deputy Pinkham responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage was sustained.
Deputies Hansen and Sgt. Moore responded to a report of a disorderly female in South Thomaston. The female was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center via South Thomaston Ambulance for evaluation.
Sgt. Moore arrested Kenneth Corlis, 45, of Rockland, on an outstanding warrant.
Oct. 23
Deputy Pinkham responded to a report of a suspicious female in Friendship. The female was located and it was confirmed she had permission to be on the property.
Deputy John Palmer and K-9 Jake conducted an after-school detail at the Warren Community School, where the featured guest was McGruff the crime dog.
Deputies Dave Johnson and Pinkham responded to report of a theft in Hope involving two juvenile males missing from Rockport. The males were located and returned to Rockport.
Oct. 24
Deputy Elwell conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.
Deputy Palmer began an investigation of a domestic situation in Warren. The suspect was said to have fled the area and charges are pending.
Deputy Elwell began an investigation of theft in Cushing. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy Elwell arrested Nathan Cowing, 30, of St. George, on an outstanding warrant.
Deputy Nathaniel Jack responded to a report of a runaway juvenile in St. George. The juvenile was later located at a friend's house.
Oct. 25
Deputy Johnson responded to a report of a distraught male in Appleton. The male was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for evaluation.
Deputy Robert Potter responded to a report of a disorderly male on North Haven. The male was located and issued a warning for same.
Oct. 26
Deputy Spear began an investigation of theft in Cushing. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy Johnson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle whose operator left the roadway, crossed a driveway, struck a utility pole and came to rest in a ditch. There was reportable damage.
Deputy Johnson responded to assist Thomaston Police Sgt. Tim Hoppe in locating and interviewing a suspect in a Thomaston theft case.
Deputy Jack began an investigation of fraud in Friendship. This is still an active investigation with a known suspect.
Sgt. Moore began an investigation of harassment in Warren. Both subjects involved were issued a warning for same.
Deputy Lance Mitchell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving a single vehicle being struck in the side by a deer, causing non-reportable damage.
Oct. 27
Deputy Spear responded to a report of a domestic incident in Washington. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, it was deemed a verbal argument only and the parties separated.
Deputies Hansen and Spear responded to a motor vehicle crash in Union involving two vehicles, one of which pulled out in front of the other causing the crash. Both operators were transported from the scene to Pen Bay Medical Center.
Deputy Hesseltine responded to a report of a disorderly male on Vinalhaven. The male was located and transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for evaluation.
Deputy Hansen responded to assist South Thomaston Ambulance with a combative patient. The patient was eventually convinced to go to Pen Bay Medical Center.
Deputy Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Hansen began an investigation of theft in Warren. This is still an active investigation with one suspect named.
Deputy Pinkham responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in St. George involving a single vehicle striking a deer, which caused non-reportable damage.
