AUGUSTA — Maine State Police Troop D reported the following activity Feb. 18-24. Troop D is responsible for Maine's Midcoast, including Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, Knox counties, the southern half of Kennebec County and part of northern Cumberland County. The troop also patrols Interstate 295 from Brunswick to Gardiner. The troop's complement includes a lieutenant, three sergeants, 25 troopers and a secretary. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Feb. 18
Trooper Erin Ball stopped Jeremy Greatorex, 36, on I-295 for speeding. Greatorex was found to be operating a motor vehicle with an expired license greater than 90 days. Greatorex was issued a summons for the offense.
Trooper Ball responded to the report of someone writing a bad check at the Whitefield Town Office. Renee Lipsky, 43, of Whitefield, was issued a five-day notice and issued a summons for negotiating a worthless instrument.
Troopers Desiree Wuthenow and Jeremiah Wesbrock responded to Winterport Family Services for the report of a suicidal male.
Trooper Wuthenow took a report of propane theft in which the complainant reported that propane had been taken out of a tank she had in front of her residence. Investigation continues.
Troopers Corey Smith and Benjamin Sweeney responded to Swanville for a domestic incident involving a parent and a child.
Feb. 19
Trooper Thomas Bureau responded to a single vehicle that slid off Route 1-A in Winterport. Trooper Bureau recognized one of the family members that arrived on the scene as William Runci, 40, who had two warrants for his arrest. Trooper Bureau arrested Runci and transported him to Waldo County Jail.
Feb. 20
Trooper Bureau stopped Jade Cummings, 19, for a traffic infraction on Patterson Hill Road in Belfast. Trooper Bureau determined Cummings was smoking a cigarette in the vehicle with her 2-month-old child in the back seat. Cummings was issued a summons for the offense.
Trooper Smith charged Alexandra Dube, 34, of Hampden, with operating after suspension when she was observed operating a vehicle on Main Street in Winterport.
Feb. 21
Trooper Smith interceded in a domestic argument in Frankfort. A peaceful resolution was reached and both parties remained with no further problems.
Trooper Sweeney charged Pamela Manson, 55, of Unity, with negotiating a worthless instrument. Manson had allegedly written a bad check to pay for heating oil.
Trooper Bureau responded to a single vehicle accident on Maple Ridge Road in China. Upon arrival Trooper Bureau learned the lone occupant of the vehicle had died on scene. It appears road conditions and speed may be contributing factors in the crash. Lt. Aaron Hayden, Sgt. Michael Field and Trooper Bethany Robinson assisted with the accident. Investigation is ongoing.
Feb. 22
Trooper Bureau stopped Noah L. Kimball, 26, on Waldo Avenue in Belfast for a traffic infraction. Kimball's driver's license was suspended and he was issued a summons and was instructed to park the vehicle until a licensed operator arrived to drive it away.
Trooper Robert Cejka stopped a juvenile for speeding 86 mph on I-295 in Bowdoinham. His license was suspended and he was issued a summons for speeding and operating after suspension.
Trooper Cejka stopped Adam Long, 25, for speeding 82 mph on I-295 in Bowdoinham. Trooper Seth Allen assisted with the stop and during the investigation five grams of marijuana were found in the vehicle. Long was issued a summons for possession of a usable amount of marijuana.
Trooper Smith investigated the report of a suicidal teen in Swanville. It was determined that the teen was not suicidal.
Trooper Smith investigated a phone harassment complaint from Winterport.
Trooper Ball took a complaint from the Lincoln County Sheriff's office regarding a bad check being passed for the repayment of bail. Investigation continues.
Trooper Donald Webber stopped Ryan Jones, 34, of Hallowell, on Route 3 in Augusta for traveling 86 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. Trooper Webber determined Jones was under the influence and he was charged with criminal speed and operating under the influence of alcohol.
Feb. 23
Trooper Webber stopped Jessica Fairservice, 28, and Danny Jackson, 39, both of Augusta, on Caswell Road in Windsor. Fairservice had a suspended license and the vehicle she was operating had false plates. Trooper Webber also determined that both subjects had outstanding warrants. Fairservice was charged with operating after suspension and attaching false plates. She was transported to the Kennebec County Jail on her warrant. Sgt. Jeffrey Mills assisted and transported Jackson.
