Waldo County Sheriff’s Office beat: Accidents, theft and OUI
BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity Jan. 31 – Feb. 7. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Jan. 29 (late entry)
Kristie Larrabee, 29, of Swanville, was issued a summons for violating conditions of release, stemming from an incident Jan. 21.
Jan. 31
Alexander C. Howe, 19, of Washington, Conn., was issued a summons for possession of alcohol by a minor, stemming from an incident Jan. 30.
Deputy Jordan Tozier responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Morse Road and Randlett Road in Montville where the operator of one vehicle was unable to stop in time at an intersection due to imprudent speed on the icy/sanded roads. The vehicle skidded into the roadway striking an RSU 3 school bus on the passenger’s side rear wheel. Neither the driver, nor the 29 children on the bus, were injured. The operator of the car was also uninjured, as were the four juvenile passengers.
Feb. 1
Wayne A. Curtis, 25, of Brooks, was issued summonses for four charges of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, al stemming from an incident Jan. 31.
Kimberly Riposta, 24, of Belfast, was issued a summons for operating under the influence on Route 1A in Winterport.
Stephen R. Picariello, 33, of Burnham, was arrested for criminal mischief stemming from an incident Jan. 31.
Alexander C. Howe, 19, of Washington, Conn., was arrested for disorderly conduct, stemming from an incident Jan. 31.
Feb. 2
James I. Olofson, 34, of Liberty, was arrested for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.
David K. Doherty, 39, of Palmyra, was issued summonses for leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failure to give notice of an accident by quickest means.
Feb. 3
Lois Thrasher, 74, of Fairfield, was issued summonses for three charges of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. The incidents allegedly occurred Aug. 30, 2013, Aug. 31, 2013 and Sept. 9, 2013.
Joshua V. Hurd, 26, of Morrill, was issued a summons for an inspection sticker violation.
Derek J. Caron, 32, of Winterport, was arrested for domestic violence assault.
Feb. 5
Deputy Kevin Littlefield responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Route 1 in Northport where the operator of a unit waiting to turn into a Department of Transportation camp was struck after another driver lost control of their vehicle in the snowy conditions. The operator waiting to turn told Deputy Littlefield he was nearly at a stop waiting for an opening to make the left turn when he saw another car cross the center line. The driver told Littlefield he had no time to move and the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles were towed.
Deputy Daniel Thompson responded to a two vehicle accident on Augusta Road in Belmont where one unit was attempting to make a left turn in front of a second car and into a parking lot. The second vehicle told Deputy Thompson he was unable to stop in time due to the snowy conditions. The driver of that vehicle, Daniel A. Gerry, 35, of Belmont, was ultimately arrested for operating under the influence. Both vehicles were towed.
Feb. 6
Preston Cole, 38, of Thorndike, was arrested for failure to appear.
