Fall sail on schooner Mary Day
CAMDEN — Thirty passengers, five crew and Capt. Barry King departed aboard the 90-foot (125-foot spar length) schooner Mary Day out Camden Harbor Sept. 26 for a four-day, end-of-the-season sail that headed east to Brooklin, through the Oak Island passage, up Eggemoggin Reach and under the Deer Island Bridge. They then headed back down Penobscot Bay to Isle Au Haut, where they spent an overnight. Pulling up the anchor, they moved through the Isle Au Haut thoroughfare and headed toward Islesboro, passing Brimstone Island and up through Hurricane Sound and Leadbetter Narrows, eventually spending the final night in Pulpit Harbor off Vinalhaven anchored next to the three-masted schooner, Victory Chimes.
