Work by Betsy Headley and Deborah Jellison on display at WCGH
BELFAST — A new art exhibit opened this month at Waldo County General Hospital featuring work by photographer Betsy Headley and mixed-media artist Deborah Jellison. Their works are on display along the hospital’s main corridor near the lab and along the halls of the Ludwig Medical Building’ first floor.
The display is part of an ongoing effort at Waldo to display local artists. The Pen Bay and Waldo Art Committee, made of care team members from Waldo and Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, put out a call for artists in January, looking for artists with ties to Maine and New England to display their work in a series of 12-week exhibits at the hospitals. The group reviewed a pool of 38 submissions and selected 29 artists that reflect the committee’s mission of welcoming visitors with art that feels comforting and engaging while celebrating the diversity, history and beauty of the Midcoast region.
Each exhibit includes QR codes, which can be scanned by a smartphone or tablet, to provide additional information about the featured artists.
The current exhibit is on display until Oct. 28, with the next scheduled to be displayed from Nov. 11 through Jan. 27, 2025.
