Town of Appleton receives grant to repair Esancy Road
APPLETON — The Town of Appleton is the recipient of a $200,000 grant to repair Esancy Road. The engineered study, paid by Federal funds, helped form the basis for a grant application to the Maine Department of Transportation. Taxpayers will be responsible for $15,000 of the total repair bill and the work will be awarded by competitive bid, according to the Appleton Select Board, in a news release.
This marks the third successful grant application made by the board in support of Town infrastructure in 2024. Land For Maine's Future funded $4,250 toward signage at the Town's newly acquired Getchell Park on Sleepy Hollow Road. An appointed committee is reviewing signage designs, as well as boat launch designs, for this area.
Appleton was granted $50,000 from the Governor's Office of Policy Innovation and the Future in June toward installing heat pumps and LED lighting in the Town office and fire station, ensuring cleaner energy and lower utility bills for the Town of Appleton for years to come.
“Investing in Appleton's infrastructure, and leveraging Federal and State funds to complete necessary repairs and upgrades, helps lower the burden on property tax bills,” said the Board.
