Red Hot Peppers Band to play Dixieland, Ragtime in Searsport, July 14
SEARSPORT — Sean Fleming and his Red Hot Peppers Band will play Dixieland and Ragtime music Sunday, July 14, at 3 p.m., at the First Congregational Church of Searsport, 8 Church Street. Included will be pieces originally played by “Jelly Roll” Morton, Louis Armstrong, Scott Joplin, the New Orleans Rhythm Kings and more. Such early Dixieland style hits as “the Chant”, “Black Bottom Stomp”, “Tiger rag” and more will be performed. Audience members are invited to come tap their feet, as the band plays hits from the dawn of the Jazz age.
According to a news release, The Red Hot Peppers will include the same configuration as “Jelly Roll” Morton used in his trend-setting Red Hot Peppers in the 1920s; with Sean Fleming on piano, Phil Clement on banjo and guitar, Glen Sargent on clarinet, Allen Millet on drums, Doug Kennedy on trombone and double bass, Peter Stuart on trumpet and Anne-Marie D’Amico on tuba.
This is the third concert in the 2024 concert series at FCC Searsport. Admission is by donation at the door with proceeds going to FCC Searsport’s church and community music programs and to support the concert series.
