Midcoast Community Chorus presents “Hope Sings!” on June 16
ROCKPORT — A choral and orchestral concert celebrating artistry, courage and community. The Midcoast Community Chorus (MCC) returns to the stage for an afternoon of musical inspiration at "Hope Sings!", a special concert event to be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 4 p.m., in the Strom Auditorium at Camden Hills Regional High School.
This unique performance is designed to uplift the spirit and foster hope through a harmonious blend of classic melodies and pieces from the poignant song cycle, "Sing for the Cure," which explores many perspectives of a breast cancer patient's journey.
As part of MCC’s long tradition of giving back to the community, the chorus will be donating $5,000 to the Pen Bay YMCA’s LIVESTRONG program, which provides essential wellness programs for local cancer patients.
In partnership with presenting sponsor Pen Bay Medical Center, “Hope Sings!” is an initiative not only to entertain, but to enlighten and raise awareness about cancer, with informative materials available to attendees during the intermission, alongside refreshments and special merchandise.
The concert will be further highlighted by the guest appearance of Mimi Bornstein, the founding conductor whose vision has significantly shaped the chorus. Creative Director Jeffrey Maynard will also spotlight the exceptional talents of soloists from the Camden Rockport Middle School. A special slideshow honoring loved ones and a 15-piece orchestra will accompany over 50 singers for this approximately 60-minute program.
Tickets for this event are on sale now.
“Secure your spot to be part of this significant occasion and help make a difference in the lives of those fighting cancer,” said MCC, in a news release.
