Camden Falls Gallery kicks off season with Homecoming exhibit: “Bits and Pieces”
CAMDEN — Camden Falls Gallery’s Homecoming exhibit, “Bits and Pieces” opens Thursday, May 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., during Camden‘s First Friday Art walk of the season. The show will run through June 6.
The show brings together the works of three mixed media artists, Ryan Kohler, Margaret Gallagher, Kelly Desrosiers. Each artist has developed a distinct style by combining a variety of different mediums and materials to bring their vision to life.
Ryan Kohler’s work is based in the formal aspects of representational painting, including composition, color and value, but it’s through his process of intuitively applying cut paper and other printed materials to his underlying paintings that make things come alive.
Margaret Gallagher’s work incorporates a number of mixed media combinations, these include painting, drawing, print making, photography, and vintage ephemera. From this foundation she considers the concepts of pattern and design to create her collages with common themes focused on nature and life by the ocean.
Kelly Desrosiers is a welcomed new artist to the gallery this year. She creates Maine-based landscapes and seascapes inspired by her varied and rich life experiences and her reverence for the natural world. She combines collage, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, ink and pastel to blend ideas and motifs from multiple long-standing interests in biology, ecology, geology, chemistry, earth science, and the evolution of species.
Camden Falls Gallery is open daily, Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sundays, 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
