Belfast Marine Institute's Wet Lab relocated to more convenient location
BELFAST — The Belfast Marine Institute's Wet Lab at Belfast Area High School has been relocated to a more convenient and sheltered spot on the school campus, occupying a corner slice of the staff/student parking lot.
Located near a power pole with street-light and security cameras, the new location offers excellent student accessibility, sufficient power to run and maintain the facility's requirements, nearness to the school's outdoor classroom area and high visibility for display of area business logos from BMI sponsors and funding helpers, according to Charles Lagerbom, in a news release.
All electrical and HVAC work is expected to be completed soon. BMI staff and students hope to have the nursery operational by March, in time for the institute to start kelp and algae and eel-grass experiments. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for spring.
