Clements Brothers bring twin harmonies to SoundCheck series
CAMDEN — The SoundCheck series continues Friday, Jan. 12, when New England’s Clements Brothers perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St. The intimate one-hour concert is sponsored by the Captain Swift Inn and 40 Paper.
“Just before they depart Cape Ann for a West Coast tour, George (guitar) and Charles (upright bass) Clements will bring their distinctive singer-songwriting work, fueled by amazing harmony, to the Camden Opera House stage,” said the Opera House, in a news release.
The identical twins first entered the Americana music scene in 2012 as part of the Lonely Heartstring Band, an internationally touring grass-roots act with whom they put out two Rounder Records albums. Afterwards, George performed the Paul Simon role in the Off-Broadway show “The Simon and Garfunkel Story,” while Charles could often be found in the bass section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
For the last couple of years, the Clements Brothers have explored their first original project together, touring and, this summer, releasing a debut album, Dandelion Breeze. With backgrounds ranging from folk, classical, blues and rock to jazz, George and Charles Clements combine original songwriting with imaginative renderings of songs by some of their favorite artists.
Choose-your-own reserved tickets are $10, available in advance via camdenoperahouse.com or 236-3154. Doors and box office of Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St., will open at 7 p.m. SoundCheck shows are recorded for later upload to the opera house’s YouTube Channel.
