Lauren Crosby performs with Aaron Nadeau at Underground Lounge, Nov. 9
BELFAST — Lauren Crosby performs with Aaron Nadeau at the Underground Lounge on Thursday, Nov. 9, in the basement of the Belfast Maskers Theatre, at 17 Court Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the show starts at 7 p.m.
Crosby brings a “gutsy mix of folk, country, and blues,” said the Underground, in a news release. “Crosby entrances with a voice that somehow manages to be both raw and polished. This confident simplicity perhaps reflects her roots as an island-raised lobsterman’s daughter, where her talents were recognized from a young age. Singing in bars from age 14, she played with Jonathan Edwards, released her debut album, and was invited by Bob Weir to record at TRI studios in California all while still a teenager.
“Since then, she has used a peripatetic lifestyle, including stints in Thailand, South Korea, and Alaska, to hone her gift for storytelling. This gift has animated multiple albums, including 2021’s Nights Darker in New Harbor, and generated consistent acclaim; The Boothbay Register has called Crosby ‘an exceptional American singer-songwriter with an oceanic-like voice.’”
Tickets are $10, cash only at the door.
The Underground Lounge offers shows on Thursday evenings twice a month along with beverages and homemade treats. Performers later this season will include Magic 8 Ball, Connor Garvey, and Becca Biggs. Those interested in receiving email notices about upcoming shows can email sashakutsy@protonmail.com.
