Automatic External Defibrillators soon to be found in Rockland police cruisers, other City departments
ROCKLAND — Rockland Fire & EMS has received a grant from the Steven and Tabitha King Foundation in the amount of $12,000. The grant was submitted with the intent to purchase Automatic External Defibrillators, or AED’s, and to have all City employees have at least a “Hands Only” CPR class in the event they witness a cardiac event in the workplace.
A total of 12 AEDs were purchased fully equipped to be used during a cardiac arrest for either an adult or a child.
Of the 12 AED’s purchased, nine will be placed in service with the Rockland Police Department within their cruisers and their police station. The remaining three will be installed at the Rockland Harbor Master’s Office, The Rockland Fish Pier, and Rockland City Hall.
The City Manager has planned an employee safety day for later in the year which will involve City employees receiving the hands only CPR class from Fire & EMS employees.
“The City of Rockland wishes to thank the Steven and Tabitha King Foundation for their support in public safety,” said Rockland Fire & EMS, in a news release.
