Opening reception for Yuri Kobayashi, new wine space unveiling in Searsport, Oct. 28
SEARSPORT — Workshop + Gallery, in Searsport, invites the public to an opening reception for artist Yuri Kobayashi on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Yuri Kobayashi is a sculptor and furniture maker based in Rockport. Born in Japan, she earned a B.A. in architectural design at Musashino Art University in Tokyo and then trained in woodworking at Shinrin Takumi Juku in Takayama City. She also holds an M.F.A. in furniture design from San Diego State University and for many years taught at the Rhode Island School of Design. Employing her discipline in traditional woodworking, she strives to capture her wonder and emotional nature in objects from abstract sculptures to functional pieces of furniture.
During the evening Workshop + Gallery owners Eric and Tina Nation will be unveiling WINE, a vibrant, bespoke retail wine store set within the gallery. WINE will blend a curated offering of fine art and unique wines from around the world. Christal Carrier from Central Distributors will be on hand to host a special wine tasting.
Gallery and store hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11am to 6pm.
